Still life: Skull In Ink

I completed this piece in class by using green and black ink. The piece is a still life sketch of an animal skull. I like this piece because of the vibrant green and the dark black which show shading and make the piece look 3D. I also like the shapes of the skull which really stands out and with added colour the piece is very eye catching. Compared to the skull I did in chalk I believe this is more successful as it looks like a more completed piece. This piece simply stands out more and is much more appealing to the eye compared to the other skull I did in chalk. This piece links with my old master artist reference because Da Vinci uses skull in some of his work. This piece was a starter to get me back into drawing, but it also influenced me to include skulls in my final piece. Overall I believe this piece was successful for my first week doing AS level Art, However in the future I look to improve and maybe take this and use the ideas of this piece in other pieces.

  1. Again the annotation is too brief and needs to be 200 words long at least. How does this work compare with the other skull you did in chalk? which one where you more comfortable doing? which was more successful and why?
